This is a Law Institute of Victoria Event
This wellbeing session investigates the impact of compassion fatigue on those in the legal community. Compassion fatigue occurs when professionals are exposed to the trauma of others as part of their work and can be the first step to burnout. It is a condition characterised by emotional and physical exhaustion that can lead to a diminished ability to empathise or feel compassion for others, often after extended times of having to listen to others trauma.
Informed by positive and performance psychological principles we will unpack the psychological tools you can use to manage for compassion fatigue. An opportunity will also be provided to work through a case study to provide a practical understanding of managing compassion fatigue.
